DIETETIC SUPPLEMENT – oral solution
Characteristics and effects: Infections of the urogenital system are one of the most common health problems faced especially by the female population.
Ingredients from the extract of bearberry, cranberry, field horsetail, birch and rupturewort are used to relieve discomfort such as pain and stinging when urinating, frequent difficulty and night urination of small amounts of urine, etc.
The most common cause of inflammation of the urinary tract is the bacterium Escherichia Coli. Active principles from these plants, of which phenolic glycosides (arbutin and methylarbutin), flavonoids, proanthocyanidins, various organic acids (quinic, citric, malic) have an antiseptic effect, and also have a diuretic effect (increased urination) as they are accumulated and eliminated through the kidneys.
It has long been established that the active ingredients from extracts of the leaf and fruit of cranberry (proanthocyanidins) have an antibacterial effect by preventing bacteria from sticking to the mucous membranes of the urinary tract.
Also, arbutin, in which bearberry is especially rich, after hydrolysis in the intestines and conjugation in the liver as hydroquinone, has a strong antibacterial effect, but it is necessary for the urine to be alkaline, so a diet rich in vegetables and dairy products is recommended, and to reduce the intake of substances that acidify the urine (e.g. large amounts of vitamin C) when taking this syrup.
Carefully selected and dosed amounts of extracts from these plants is an aid in therapy and prophylaxis in people prone to urinary tract infections, such as inflammation of the kidneys (pyelonephritis), urethra (urethritis), bladder (cystitis), etc.
